Famous Disney Villains Cast a Spooky Shadow Over Hong Kong Disneyland During Debut of 'Disney's Halloween'
(HONG KONG, September 7, 2006) - An enchanting season of fun and fantasy is in store for guests as Hong Kong Disneyland today revealed a glimpse of the exciting line up of festivals and events themed around Halloween, the Holidays and New Year's Eve.
Dazzling Disney entertainment and decorations, fun-filled family activities, limited edition merchandise and exquisitely themed menus create a recipe for magic and more reasons to visit the Resort with family and friends.
"At Hong Kong Disneyland, there is always something special to delight and surprise our guests and we are excited to present such a spectacular line up of celebrations designed for people of all ages to enjoy. We welcome everyone to join us in experiencing the magic of Hong Kong Disneyland - whether it's against a backdrop of Jack-O-Lanterns, a giant Christmas tree or a big band," said Bill Ernest, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Hong Kong Disneyland.
Kicking off its second year of magic in "spook-tacular" style, Hong Kong Disneyland will present "Disney's Halloween", the Park's very first month-long party dedicated to happy haunts, grinning villains and trick-or-treating.
From September 30 - October 31, 2006, Hong Kong Disneyland Park lights up in the spirit of the season, joining other Disney theme parks around the world that annually celebrate Halloween in fun-filled fashion.
Included with regular admission to the theme park, the Halloween happenings will see Hong Kong Disneyland take on a pumpkin-inspired glow with scores of whimsical Halloween decorations, costumes, parades and kids activities adding to the fun.
The theme park will be decked out with Jack-O-Lanterns, special lighting and Disney characters dressed up in adorable Halloween costumes.
All guests will also be invited to get dressed up in Halloween costumes, and join in the spectacle of the daily "Halloween Mini-Parade" with all their favorite Disney characters.
Some of the world's most famous Disney villains, including Cruella De Vil from Walt Disney's classic feature animation "101 Dalmatians" and the craggy-faced Witch from the ever-popular "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" will temporarily takeover the Opera House and turn it into "Villains' Lair", allowing kids to meet the feared characters.
As an early Halloween treat, Summer Pass holders will have access to a special sneak peek of the Villains' Lair September 23 to 28 during normal park operating hours.
Holiday Magic
In November, pumpkins and pirates give way to the wintry wonder and majesty of the Holidays as the season arrives early, replete with gentle snow flakes dusting Main Street U.S.A, enchanting decorations and a 60-foot Christmas tree in Town Square that lights up every night during an all-new singing and dancing ceremony at 6pm.
The festivities will run from November 11 - December 31, 2006 and promise to be even more magical than last year. Highlights include a host of new Holiday-inspired merchandise, sumptuous menus available throughout the Park and two Disney hotels, a meet and greet with Santa Claus at the Park and Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and Disney characters resplendent in their winter finery.
Counting Down
The Holiday fun culminates with a spectacular New Year's Eve party on December 31, 2006 as thousands of guests gather at Hong Kong Disneyland to bid farewell to 2006 and usher in 2007.
The countdown party will kick off at 9:30pm in a whirl of dance, music and Disney cheer to create Hong Kong's largest countdown celebration. Three entertainment zones will be located throughout the Park for maximum dancing fun and include a big band against the backdrop of Sleeping Beauty Castle and DJs keeping the beat in Tomorrowland and Adventureland.
Pyrotechnic displays on Main Street U.S.A and in Tomorrowland will paint the night sky in a flash of vibrant color, while all merchandise stores will stay open until the party ends at 1am.
Whatever the occasion this festive season, Hong Kong Disneyland is the place to celebrate with friends and family!
